Why do we as Americans want to punish those among us who are successful? Why do we want to punish those who have worked hard and achieved what they believe to be the “American Dream”? There are those who try to tell us that it just isn’t fair. It starts in pee-wee football when no score is kept and everyone gets a trophy. It continues on through adolescence with no one wanting to hurt another person’s self-esteem. If one gets “it”, then everyone else should get “it” too. Why?
Apparently, this is what Senator Barack Obama believes. Life isn’t fair. You didn’t win life’s lottery, so he will make sure you get yours while the rich get “theirs”.
This is exactly what Obama is proposing with his “spread the wealth around” tax increase. He wants to take from the “rich” and give to the “poor”. However, to some liberal democrats, the “rich” are those who make as little as $75,000 a year. Does this describe you? Congratulations on being “rich”! Senator Obama and the liberal democrats have not met a tax they didn’t want to hike.
If the Illinois Senator becomes President of the United States and the Democrats make further gains in the House and Senate, then you can rest assured that our taxes will go up. After all, Joe Biden, the running mate, calls Obama’s tax hike “patriotic”. Karl Marx had another name for it – socialism. Marx claimed socialism is the stage between capitalism and communism.
Those of you who believe your taxes will not be subject to Obama’s tax raise are in for a rude awakening.
Suppose for just a moment that only the “rich” have their taxes raised. Do you think it will not negatively impact everyone? Small businesses will be hurt. Jobs will be lost. On top of all of that, we, the average “Joe”, will be paying higher prices for products. Why? Those who have their taxes raised will pass that increase onto us. Just like when businesses pass the increased cost of fuel onto us.
Who are the rich anyway? They are those who run our industry. They are the so-called “movers and shakers”. Yes, there are those who got their wealth simply because they were born into the right family. But, for the most part, the wealthy are those who have worked hard their entire life and are now reaping the reward for their hard work.
What happens when you over tax the wealthy? They stop spending. They stop growing their businesses. Jobs are cut. The economy gets even more stagnant. Like I said, they pass on the increased expense to all of us.
Several years ago former President Bill Clinton, when asked by an average citizen if a nation has ever taxed its way out of a recession had to confess that, “No” it has never happened. Nevertheless, Clinton signed into law one of the largest tax increases in American history. However, if Obama and the Democrat controlled congress get their way, their tax increase will be even larger.
The Illinois Senator says his plan will give a tax cut to 95% of Americans. That is interesting; that means people who don’t pay taxes will get a check from the government. Where will that money come from?
Time and space does not permit me to talk about radical anti-American Jeremiah Wright, the terrorist Bill Ayers, ACORN, and others. I don’t have time to mention Obama’s support for reversing the ban on partial-birth abortion and his opposition to legislation that would protect the baby that survives an abortion and is born alive.
America does indeed need change. However, it doesn’t need the kind of change that Barack Obama will bring.
